“Peter Collins’ Farewell Meeting” --- A special colourful video this one in more ways than one – the first meeting of the last season at the famous “Hyde Road ”, Manchester, the home for so many years of the “Belle Vue Aces”. This video includes Neil, Les & Phil Collins, Erik Gundersen, Kelvin Tatum, Kelly & Shawn Moran, Carl Blackbird, Lance King, Peter Ravn, Andy Smith, Simon Wigg, Chris Morton, Paul Thorp, Kenny McKinna, Jeremy Doncaster, Glen Hornby and not of course forgetting P.C’s match races with Bruce Penhall plus centre green interviews with various race winners. An interview with Peter Collins follows and then a look and listen back to the 1970’s featuring Super 8 cine clips of P.C.’s 76 World Final victory, Ivan Mauger, Zenon Plech, Malcolm Simmons, John Louis etc., etc., and there’s more ---excerpts from a 75 & 76 World Pairs meeting involving Anders Michanek, Tommy Jannson, Ole Olsen, Fin Thomsen, Phil Crump, Johnny Boulger, Barry Briggs, Ivan Mauger and to complete this 180 minute feast of speedway excitement there are cine clips from World Championship Continental meetings in 1977 & 78 - Wow, catch your breath if you dare !
Another special 3 hour video is titled “Together We Win” with monies from this one going to the “Guide Dogs For The Blind” --- this recording takes you into Wembley, Wally talking with many speedway personalities some of whom have now sadly passed on, John Scott former American Team Manager, Aussie Chum Taylor, World Champions Freddie Williams and Ove Fundin along with various other racers of the shaleways. That amazing 1981 World Final race between Bruce Penhall and Tommy Knudsen plus slow mo’ action at the finish ! A short visit to Australia, a chat with Charlie Spinks, Phil Hart and a look in at the West Maitland Showground, truly a remarkable sensation ! On to Scotland with speedway tales from the lips of Bill Kitchen, George Wilks, Brian Crutcher etc., a tour around a fabulous museum, speedway machines of all different ages and makes in abundance along with body colours, helmets etc., and not forgetting words from the maestro himself Johnny Hoskins and there’s more ! Truly a recording to treasure and perhaps, eventually, pass onto grandchildren.

Excerpts were from the following race meetings – Scotland v Russia in the mid-60’s; 1969 European Final; 1974 Best Pairs Semi-Final from Rodenbach where Tommy Jannson passes Briggs and Mauger in one super overtake, also in this meeting a Michanek versus McMillan battle royal !; 1974 Anglo American Nordic Final; 74/75 snippets Oxford versus Newport, Exeter & Wolverhampton; England’s 1975 World Team victory, P.C. at his brilliant best !; 77 snippets from Halifax, Bristol and Swindon; 78 Peter Craven Memorial Trophy; 79 World Final races; 79 Master of Speedway from Brenhem and finally the 1981 World Team Championship including Kenny Carter’s tussle with George Hack ! My apologies to riders whose names I may have missed out from this rather nostalgic marathon video of almost one hundred and eighty minutes duration.
